This was my spring final project for animation, I textured almost everything except I forgot the tapestry things in the back. I tried to animate the coins falling out of the bag and it was working until I did something (I don't know what messed it up) and then it kept interpenetrating and not doing anything.... Then I tried to animate the sword last minute since the coins thing ended up failing , and I totally didn't have the time to do it well so the hilt ended up being in the wrong place so the animation aspect actually is terrible, which is kinda sad since I spent like 30 minutes arranging my coins to fall out and look right and that ended up not working.

Final Project
I finished the fish body, after duplicating the halves and I am now just adjusting the faces. Since I realized I way overestimated how much time I was going to have especially since I missed a bunch of days during this project, I'm switching to the essay, which I will mostly be over character modeling/basic rigging

Final Project
I continued to work on my fish model, and i went into mudbox and smoothed and sculpted the main body and then exported it back into maya to add the back fin, and then i went back into mudbox, which probably was not the best decision since now i have like 3264 polys. I won't be able to model on thursday since i have the AP World History test, but friday I will finish adding fins, the eyes, then duplicating the model to create the other half

Final Project
I continued modeling my fish and added the top/dorsal fin to the fish, still working and adjusting the back fin and deciding what other fins my fish will have since I'm not modeling my fish based off of one exact/specific fish

Final Project
I continued working on my fish body today, and also I started to work on the basic shape for the tail/back fin. I need to round a lot of my edges still, and add a bunch of details but right now I'm still trying to just get the basic models for everything done. I also need to adjust the back/end of the fish since right now it kind of goes into a point.
This is what the basic shape of the fin is going to be, but I still need to adjust certain parts of it and smooth/round it our since I don't want the tail to be super angular and sharp, I want it to be more rounded and arched.

Final Project
Because of the schedule, I didn't have class on Wednesday, but I started working on creating my fish in another scene, I'm not entirely sure of what kind of fish I want to model yet, but I started making a rough body shape
I still need to figure out what I'm going to do in terms of the tail and other fins and eyes, but I just am doing the basic body shape right now

Final Project
I was absent on Monday, so today I'm working on setting up my environment, I'm using the maya underwater caustics preset in the visor to basically make the underwater environment for my scene
It looks like this so far:
Since I used the underwater caustics preset, it does change frame to frame. This is just the basic environment and I'll make other models to import and add in later like aquatic plants or something, as well as my main models, but I have the main portion of the environment done now.

Script
Animation Script
First scene/frame is the title screen, and shows the title of the animation/the name of the 'show', called Sing or Swim. The logo fades out into an overview of the scene, showing the judge, contestant, and crowd. The crowd begins to quiet down, anticipating the show, and the contestant is shown, lights shining down on him. It then cuts to the judge character, sitting in their chair facing away from the contestant, uncertain of what is to come. The contestant then begins to sing and the camera zooms in to focus on them. The camera then turns to the judges' chair, and then the red button in front of the judge is the main focus. The judge listens, then begins to raise his hand slowly, unsure of whether or not to press the button. The contestant is shown again, waiting for the decision, and the camera goes back to the button, showing the judge slamming their hand down, and the camera follows as the chair swivels around. The camera follows the contestant as they fall through the floor into a pit (of water), and then it fades to black, ending.

A Whole Bunch of Things I've Forgotten to Turn in
Plot Diagram
Storyboard
it's a lot shorter than my pop storyboard since I don't think I will change the camera angles as much, and I'll probably end up posting my pop storyboard tomorrow along with the pirate flag and the animatic
Typed Up Short Story
My short story/animation is about a common snail who lives in a garden. The setting of the animation occurs in this garden, on a sunny, probably warm, day. In this garden, there is a large tomato plant that is heavy with ripe tomatoes, with a few smaller plants around it. The snail catches sight of this attractive tomato plant and decides that it wants to eat one of the tomatoes. However, the tomato plant is quite far away from the snail, or at least in comparison to the snail, and the tomatoes are all still up high hanging from the plant, posing a problem for the snail. The snail still wants a tomato from the plant, and begins to slowly but surely make its way to the plant. Much time passes, and the snail eventually makes it to the base/bottom of the plant, and stares up at the tomatoes, still high up above its reach. One particular tomato catches the snail's’ eye, as it is larger and more vibrant than the rest. This tomato, being heavier and ripe, begins to droop as its weight pulls it down from the stalk. Finally, after watching it sway, the tomato finally falls to the ground, and the snail happily inches towards it in hopes of eating some of it.
i've had these done for weeks i guess i just forgot to turn it in, and then i totally didn't think about it over break, sorry, I

Shatter Tutorial
I went through the shatter effect tutorial & playblasted it. I learned how to use the nCloths in more ways, and how to use a passive collider & what it does, as well as using the ncache

Dynamic Vortex
Also I've had everything posted/turned in but I still have blank spaces for several grades

Dynamic Vortex
Started the video for dynamic vortex and I'm using the alien again. I created the nCloth(s), and added the vortex field, and that's basically all I really did

Crane
This is my crane, its only the playblast up to video 4 so this only has the sphere, not the other shapes to pick up, it also kind of jumps right before it gets to the sphere but I think it's just a mistake with the keyframes

Crane
Finished Video 3 and figured out how to fix the crane so that both the crane control and swivel were able to affect the crane and were parented at the same time. Started video 4 where I created the metal sphere and the metal plate and parented the sphere to both the crane and the plate and I'm about to start changing weights/animating the crane to swivel and move.

Crane
Finished the second crane video, where I added the ikHandle and then moved on to/finished video 3, where I started using the handle with constraints and joint limits but whenever I try to parent the ikHandle and the crane control locator to the swivel, the whole thing messes up, so I'm going to try to fix it tomorrow
Tuesday, February 9, 2016
Crane
Finished the first crane video and finished building the crane and putting it together, I'm currently in video 2 where I'm parenting the pins with the joints I created.
Monday, February 8, 2016
Crane
Started the crane videos, where I'm beginning to work with rigs and constraints, I started building the crane today.

Rigid & Soft Bodies
I went through the soft body video and here is my really messed up cube because I just messed around with the springs
Thursday, February 4, 2016
Rigid & Soft Bodies
Video 10
Finished videos 10 and 11 of the candy dish tutorial, where I used rigid bodies, gravity field, and baking to make the candies slip around in the bowl, in a similar process to the first video with the sphere and the cube.
the playblast is right here but it won't show up sometimes on the blog post
Started on the soft body tutorial and began making the initial scene/models

Rigid and Soft Bodies
Rigid Bodies Video
Candy Dish Video 9
I watched the rigid body video and finished Video 9 for the candy dish tutorial which was basically the same concept as the rigid bodies video

Working w/Deformers
Started the new assignment where I'm learning how to use deformers to animate objects/shapes in Maya, I watched the entire first video and I'm currently half way through the second
UPDATE
UPDATE
Here is the deformer animation, and I used the squash to make the alien look kind of like it's breathing, but I should've made it more noticeable since it's kind of too subtle to be breathing

Character & Scene Development
I finished my alien and the cell, but once i brought into Maya it crashed/froze my computer every single time I tried to use the Legacy High Quality, I had my lighting done and everything....
UPDATE
You said it was ok to just post the low quality render so here it is
You basically can't see any of the sculpting that took forever or even the pants but it's there.

Character & Scene Development
Video 16
Video 17
Video 19
Finished texturing the ear things, back of the head in video 16 and moved on to making the aliens eye and adding subtleties to make it appear more realistic in video 16. Since you said we didn't have to do every video to save time, I moved to 19 where I'm texturing the cell using projection painting with a concrete image/stencil.

Character & Scene Development
I'm still on video 16, where I'm coloring and layering shades on the alien to create texture and to make the skin look better/more realistic. Since its a 1/2 day I didn't finish 16 yet
Tuesday, January 26, 2016
Character & Scene Development
Video 15
Video 16
Finished sculpting the alien's pants in video 15 and started on video 16 where I began painting the alien's body with a base green color and started using the airbrush to add variety/other color/texture.
Monday, January 25, 2016
Character & Scene Development
Finished Video 14 where I continued to add details and wrinkles to the aliens face in places where it would bend/actually wrinkle, added texture and bumps to the hands and feet, and made the aliens mouth to add to their expression. I barely started 15 where I'm beginning to sculpt the aliens shorts to appear more realistic.
Friday, January 22, 2016
Character & Scene Development
Video 14
I'm still on video 14 where I'm adding details like wrinkles, ridges, veins, etc. to the alien's face around the eyes and nose area.
